Is that an iPhone with a QWERTY keyboard and a Game Paddle?
March 31, 2009
![]()
The iPhone might be one of the most popular mobile gaming platform but it is fair to say that the the touchscreen has proven to be a limited mean of controlling games despite Apple’s claim that it can virtually “emulate” any type of controller.
This image shows what seems to be an iPhone with a sliding keyboard that doubles as a game controller (check the “action” buttons in gray on the right). The design is intelligent and looks like it would be a pretty cool gaming device - I’m not even talking about reducing the number of typing errors due to the virtual keyboard.
Maybe that wheel could be tweaked to integrate an analog controller as well. What do you think? Do you like what you see?

Novatel Wireless has announced that it will be introducing the Ovation MC935D USB modem that will help you stay connected no matter where you are, targeting European networks with its single-band 2,100MHz support that provides a theoretical peak download speed of 7.2Mbps and upload speed of 5.76Mbps, although we do know well abundant that those are just marketing figures and real life performance will offer but a fraction of what is actually possible in a perfect world. Just in case you are in an area where there is no 3G connectivity, the MC935D will always fall back onto EDGE/GPRS networks for global info access. It measures a mere 0.4″ thin, making it extremely portable and will be released sometime in the second quarter of the year without any pricing details announced.

MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air owners who are looking for a way to hook up external displays to their notebooks will be pleased to know that MonoPrice has their best interests at heart, offering a new Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter. that will come in either individual quantities or in bulk, shipping in three days’ day with prices ranging from $12 to $14, depending on the amount ordered. The MonoPrice Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter can be said to be a pioneer device since Apple themselves have yet to take such a step. It is capable of supporting 1,920 x 1,080 resolutions at 12 bits per channel in addition to audio transfer, although the latter will require the source device to send audio through the Mini DisplayPort interface.

Clearwire Clear Spot Personal Hotspot
March 31, 2009
![]()
Folks who live in Portland (as well as other places in due duration, of course) will soon be able to take advantage of Clearwire’s portable WiMAX-enabled Wi-Fi router knonw as the Clear Spot Personal Hotspot. Available from early April onwards, it is able to host up to eight 802.11 b/g-compatible devices while sharing its 4Mbps bandwidth. Guess that rules out Torrent downloads as well as heavy duty video streaming at full capacity, but standard mail checking and Web surfing ought to be just fine for the $139 device to handle.
