Are Muscle Sensors The Future Of Gaming?

October 31, 2009

We’ve seem a simple game controller for games such as Pong, controllers for the Playstation and plus Nintendo’s Wiimote, but will the gaming in the future see the absence of controllers? Well, with the muscle-computer interface Technology being investigated by Microsoft, the University of Washington in Seattle, and the University of Toronto, it just might be a possibility. The gesture recognition software can decode muscle signals from the surface of the skin, which in turn can trigger events, or even be used to play games. Simply put, we could unlock our car, change the track on your MP3 player, or even play (air) Guitar Hero just my flexing our muscles or twiddling our fingers. Check out a cool demonstration of that Technology in this video.

Google Turn By Turn Gets Reviewed

October 31, 2009

So what is Google turn by turn navigation on the new Motorola Droid smartphone all about, well the guys by at gizmodo have spent some date with Google turn by turn and give us the low down.
They say the Google turn by turn voice command feature works rather well and when they said, “Navigate to Cloud City,” it launched quickly and came up with several options; howver voice command isn’t the only voice feature as the turn by turn directions are returned via a kind of robotic voice which delivers everything including the street names and numbers.
On the downside, the text search isn’t as smooth as the voice mainly due to numerous search options being available. The guys go into great depths with Google turn by turn navigation and include several images, so the best thing to do is hit up the link and check out the full review.

iTunes Locks Palm Pre Out (Again)

October 31, 2009

When that cat and mouse game first started, we were rather intrigued, but after going back and forth so many times, it’s starting to become tiresome. We’re talking about the iTunes syncing issues with the Palm Pre of course, and with the latest iTunes update, the Palm Pre can’t sync with iTunes again. One possible solution to end all that confusion would be to do like what RIM has done, and introduce its own version of BlackBerry Media Sync software which will allow iTunes users to sync their DRM-free music with the device. possibly Palm is just lazy, and trying to hitch a free ride?
