Rogers unveils Novatel Wireless 2372 Rocket Mobile Hotspot

Rogers has finally followed Bell in their footsteps, releasing a MiFi device known as the Rocket Mobile Hotspot which will hook up to Rogers’ 3G network while functioning as a portable hotspot that can cater for up to 5 different users, regardless of what they connect from be it computers, notebooks, cellphones or other devices which have 802.11b/g Wi-Fi capability. Playing nice with both Windows and OS X operating systems, the Rocket Mobile Hotspot is additionally equipped with a microSD memory card slot for easy file access and a battery life that is rated for four hours. You can pick up the Rocket Mobile Hotspot as a standalone device for $249.99, while a 3-year contract pushes the price down to just $49.99.

Novak Cassette to Digital Converter

We’re not too certain just how many public left out there have a bunch of cassettes lying around in the attic, but just in case you want to digitize whatever remaining analog music you have, soon after you might want to check out the Novak Cassette to Digital Converter. that device is a snap to use - all you need to do is insert a cassette tape, press the “Record” button and you’re good to go - with a choice of MP3, WAV or WMA file formats for the songs to be transcribed to. Other features include a USB port and an integrated speaker. The Novak Cassette to Digital Converter won’t come cheap though, retailing for around $125 after conversion.

Facebook server experiences e mail address leak

Server hiccups managed to throw a spanner in the works of Facebook, where confidential mail addresses were leaked that instance round. that does not bode too well for Facebook considering the last private report spill happened just last month (February), where everyone’s newsletter has been turned on to the public for at least half an hour before Facebook fixed the leak in their pipes. According to a statement from Facebook, “Last night during Facebook’s regular cipher push, a bug caused hidden e mail addresses to be visible briefly.” Hmmm, nary an apology from them either.

Sinchun Saycool M7 Mobile World Wide Web Device

The folks at Sinchun of Shenzen has done it again, release another generic Mobile World Wide Web Device (MID) known as the Saycool M7, where it will come equipped with a 7″ capacitive multitouch touchscreen display at 1,024 x 600 resolution, coupled with Windows XP as the operating system of choice. Processing muscle comes in the design of an Intel Atom Z510 1.1GHz processor, where it will be accompanied by 1GB RAM, a 16GB SSD, a VGA webcam, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, an optional 3G module, a SIM card slot which plays nice with CDMA and all the relevant USB and Ethernet ports to keep you connected. Seems pretty similar to the Inkia MID500n we covered earlier, save that that model lacks GPS navigation. No notion on pricing or availability though.

Acer Aspire One D260 in the pipeline

Remember the dual booting, Pine Trail-powered Aspire One D250 netbook from Acer? Well, that model which you see on the right will be getting an update, and it is no surprise to see the model number as the Acer Aspire One D260. Similar to its predecessor, it will additionally be able to dual boot Android and Windows, where the chassis of the notebook itself will experience a redesign to keep up with the times. Apart from that, an Acer executive has plus let it be known that they are keen to roll out a Google Chrome OS netbook sometime in Q3 that year, so stay tuned!

webOS 1.4.1 ready to rock and roll

Palm isn’t precisely doing too well these days despite having decent hardware, but that doesn’t mean they just drop the gauntlet and run helter-skelter, leaving their users without any support, right? Enter webOS 1.4.1 into the scene, where that update is now starting to prepare its way across Europe via Netherlands, Germany, UK, Ireland, Spain and France. It does seem as though the webOS 1.4.1 update is limited to O2 and Movistar customers only, where you can check out the entire changelog here to find out what it entails. O2 Germany and UK customers can plus download it and compose full use of Mobile Hotspot whether they wish to. What about us folks Stateside?
