It appears that the days of smuggling files in cakes into a prison have given way to the smuggling of mobile phones, and one specific gang of criminals had a 17 year old play Robin Hood complete with bow and arrows.According to an essay by on Gizmodo by Kyle VanHemert, and by way of an commentary by on the AP, a Brazilian gang paid a local teen to use a bow launch mobile phones fixed to the end of arrows by the prison walls.Apparently the authorities have said they caught the offender when he fired an arrow with a mobile phone attached by the wall and struck an officer on the back. The struck officer wasn’t seriously injured as the mobile device fixed to the arrow tip cushioned the blow. The young would-be Robin Hood managed to launch four mobile phones into the prison before being caught, whether said mobile phones were recovered by the authorities isn’t clear.

We know that ViewSonic’s ViewPad 100 is capable of dual booting, but with more details on the tablet device being revealed, the initial euphoria isn’t quite there any more. After all, having Android 1.6 running on it isn’t precisely going to excite anyone, despite the fact that you can always boot up Windows 7 as an alternative. We’re still trying to figure out how a dual booting tablet will fit into the average Joe’s life, but whether it ever takes off, it will probably occupy an extremely niche market. Other hardware specifications of the ViewSonic ViewPad 100 include a 10-inch LED display at 1024 x 600 resolution, an Intel Atom N455 1.66Ghz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a G-sensor, A-GPS, a couple of USB ports, a miniVGA, microSD memory card slot and an integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam. No notion on pricing though.

Watching a 3D movie will require you to wear a pair of active shutter glasses of sorts most of the date, but Philips thinks that is just too cumbersome, hence working together with Dimenco to reveal a 3D TV that has no need for those pesky glasses. Too poor the price of progress in that area is pretty slow, since it will only hit the consumer television market as early as 2013. So far initial impressions of the 3D TV that does not require glasses were average at best, and it has yet to offer the “in your face” feeling as with regular 3D TVs that need a pair of glasses to go along with it. On the other hand, the lenticular lens Technology utilized within is certainly a whole lot better for non-stationary viewing. It probably won’t be cheap when unleashed to the mass market, that’s for certain!

If you’re a gamer who gets stressed easily whenever your team mates do not listen to your directions and go ahead to get themselves killed, next the Stealth KYBX-400 keyboard would fit your personality well. After all, it was specially constructed to be hard, so banging the keyboard isn’t going to faze it at the end of the day. Features include a built-in optical trackball, being environmentally sealed to NEMA 4, 4X and IP65 specifications. The rugged vandal resistant stainless steel enclosure will hold 71 full-travel keys with silent tactile feedback, a 38mm optical trackball and NVIS-compliant red adjustable backlighting for easier key reference whether you love working in pitch black darkness. The SD organization has ushered in the future of SDHC and SDXC memory card, where it recently unveiled a new memory card design that will enable superior goods transfer speed compared to what is on the market today. that new design will rely on a dual-row pin layout that enables the bus speed to touch up to 300 Mbps in either format, and best of all is that - it is fully backwards compatible. The new interface will additionally come in full size and micro mold factor cards, and will comprise part of the coming SD 4.0 specification that is tipped to roll out early next year. As for current UHS-I Technology, that maxes out at around 104 Mbps, so a theoretical triple boost in performance has certainly whet our appetite.

If you still do not have music flowing through your veins more than blood, next the Guitar Sidekick from Castiv might help sooth those stage jitters, particularly since that device will connect to the neck of your guitar. Boasting an adjustable mechanism that will accommodate just about any smartphone size (the Sony PSP would additionally fit pretty snugly), it will help you see your notes as well as other references when playing without having to have someone else hold it up for you. No concept on whether an iPad version is in the works, but you can bring home the Guitar Sidekick for $30.

After all, that 8.4-inch tall bot is full well capable of functioning as a universal remote control, relying on infra-red Technology to get the job done while ‘listening’ to verbal commands in order for you to wield full control by your domestic electrical appliances. Will it ever reach Stateside? We don’t think so, and it will probably cost a bomb in the process as well.

As expected, the 31-inch OLED TV (which is monstrous when compared to regular OLED displays) has arrived at IFA 2010 and made a pretty big splash. You certainly won’t be able to take your eyes off a TV that measures all of just 2.9mm thin, and at that size, just about everything else in your home would look obese. While having a pretty small viewing real estate, it certainly won’t come cheap at £6,000 a pop as it hits the market in March next year. Of course, the proof is in the pudding as they say, so those who are lucky decent to have that kind of money to bring home one of these puppies will definitely claim it is money well spent after having a look at its image quality. Features include Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and boasting an infinite contrast ratio that allows it to be viewed from virtually any angle.

SageTV has begun to ship their very own HD Theater 300 media player that is capable of streaming media files directly from the Web or via a local network to a connected TV, and it is plus capable of keeping up with full HD resolution videos as well. whether your friend happens to drop by and pop in a USB flash drive to watch a movie, no problems there. The HD Theater 300 will support HDMI 1.3 and both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD/MA audio output, featuring a remote control to keep sofa potatoes happy. It will play nice with SageTV’s Media Center software that virtually enables any PC or Mac equipped with an HD tuner card to watch and record live TV - as lengthy as there is sufficient memory within, of course. Expect to fork out $150 for the SageTV HD Theater 300.

Both the LG Optimus One (as seen above) and Optimus Chic have surfaced yet again in a series of spy shots, and both of them will be powered by the Android operating system - although nothing fundamental like a comprehensive specifications list, price or availability were made known to public. The LG Optimus One might be known as the P500 in positive circles, and we’re comforted to know that Android 2.2 Froyo comes bundled with it to keep up with the times. 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity will help you keep in touch with family and friends, while a 3-megapixel camera helps capture memories on the go - albeit that one lacks flash.
