Apple Security Warning For iPhone, iPad And Mac Users From Indian Govt

Indian government issues urgent security warnings affecting iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

India’s Computer Emergency Response Team(CERT) recently released a high-severity security alert for iOS users this week. It has identified a security risk associated with iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. This alert from August 2, 2024, has drawn the attention of Apple users nationwide.

From the alert provided by the CERT, numerous vulnerabilities have been found in the different products. These vulnerabilities can facilitate malicious activities, allowing access to confidential information, injecting codes, circumventing protection mechanisms, and impersonating users on the affected devices. The following software versions are at risk:

  • Apple Safari variance before 17.6.
  • Apple Mac OS Ventura through variance 13.6.8.
  • All Apple Mac OS Sonoma variance before 14.6.
  • Apple Vision OS variance before 1.6.
  • Versions of Apple IOS and iPad OS before 17.6.
  • Apple IOS and iPad OS versions before 16.7.9.

This issue is not only limited to older models, such as the iPhone 8, 8 plus, and iPhone X, but also to the latest Apple product releases, such as the iPhone 15 pro-Max and Vision Pro headset.

Measures to enhance the security of your device

It has released relevant updates and patches to counter this vulnerability. Cert has urged all users to download and install the updates as early as possible to protect their devices.

To update your device, follow these steps:

  • Go to the settings app of your device.
  • Navigate to the software update.
  • Update your devices to the newest iOS, iPad OS, Mac OS, or Safari versions.

However, users should visit the company website under the support tab for additional information. You can ward off these server security threats by ensuring that your devices are up to date.
